My contribution


Merk Mayhem is an upcoming First-Person Shooter where casual and competitive players alike engage in fast-paced combat, using a variety of combat kits and abilities to out maneuver and outplay opponents.

My role in this project is assist in the refinement of the levels that were already made as well as create new levels and assist other team members with play testing.

  • Initial work has involved cleaning up the initial level Merk Mayhem will be launching on steam with. The level required several issues to be resolved including:

  • Removing broken static mesh objects.

  • Removing broken decals.

  • Changing the shadow of several buildings from dynamic to static.

  • Fixing the collision of several static meshes.

  • Adding in direct lighting, atmosphere, and fog.

  • Changed the lighting already in place to help reduce process.

  • Optimized the level for better performance.

  • Creating whiteboxes and building upon them.

WIPs


Currently, there are two levels in progresses, Canyon and Cliffside. The process of building them started with rough drafts on paper showing the critical path and ideas of what the atheistic for the level should be.

Using the CubeGrid tool offered in Unreal 5, I'm able to create quicker blockouts of the critical paths than previously capable of.

Once that is complete, I go in using the geometry tool in order to create a more defined idea of the level, incorporating ideas for the art style.
